"The Umvelt" is a series of tactile photographic works fixed on wood with powdered pigments, graphite and charcoal. The images reveal the Northern California Delta wetlands which are currently being jeopardized by the proposed tunnels that seek to divert the river to Southern California. By inviting the viewer to hold and feel the raised relief of these images, information is obtained through the fingertips that viscerally forms an immediate connection, both physically and emotionally, to this endangered world.
